Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Ankora before getting started.
- Does Ankora connect to my bank?
- No. Ankora does not use the PSD2 directive. You enter your bills and expenses manually. This choice guarantees you remain the owner of your data and that no sensitive banking information is stored.
- Where is my data hosted?
- All your data is hosted in the European Union (Supabase EU region, Vercel EU region, Upstash EU). No data is transferred outside the EU.
- How does smoothing work?
- Ankora takes your quarterly, semi-annual and annual bills and spreads them across 12 months. You know exactly how much to set aside each month to cover all your future bills, stress-free.
- Can I delete my account?
- Yes, at any time from Settings → Privacy. Deletion takes effect 30 days after your request (you can cancel during this period). All your financial data is wiped, security logs are pseudonymised.
- Can I export my data?
- Yes. The "Download my data" button in Settings gives you a complete JSON file of everything Ankora holds about you. Compliant with the GDPR right to portability (art. 20).
- Does Ankora provide financial advice?
- No. Ankora is a budgeting education and organisation tool. We do not issue any investment advice (FSMA Belgium regulatory constraint). For any investment decision, consult an authorised professional.
- Is there any artificial intelligence?
- In Phase 1, no. Calculations are deterministic and auditable. In Phase 2, an optional BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) layer will let you connect your own Anthropic or OpenRouter key for suggestions — no extra cost on Ankora's side.
- Can I share my space with my children or friends?
- In Phase 1, each user has a private space, isolated by default. In Phase 2, we'll add the ability to create "shared pockets" (by invitation, with viewer/editor roles) without ever mixing your personal data.
